Rhein-Berg: Regional 2025 provides insights into the world of tomorrow
In the Bergisches Rhineland there are exciting developments that are initiated by the regional structural support program in 2025. In the next 14 months, various projects that pursue the goal of sustainability and common good orientation are to be presented. This includes an ecological cooperative project in Bergisch Gladbach-Herkenrath, which is intended to enable young families to live resource-saving, as well as an innovative mobile farm project in Moitzfeld to produce hydrogen through solar energy. Furthermore, a sustainable district with appealing living space, jobs and an education campus is being built on the area of the former Zander paper factory, which is intended to promote cultural and social life in the region.
The program starts on May 10 with a citizens' forum on the pikeperch. In the following months, several events are planned, including specialist congresses that focus on the further development of the Zanders area, as well as conferences for civic engagement. The regional 2025 should not only provide insights into the projects already realized, but also create space for new ideas and initiatives. Regional-2025 agency Managing Director Dr. Reimar Molitor and his colleague Thomas Kemme emphasized the importance of comunal cooperation to improve the quality of life sustainably.
So far,Up to now, 19 projects have been successfully implemented as part of the regional 2025, while a further 20 projects are in the start -up phase. These range from initiatives to convert old industrial areas to the promotion of civil projects to integrated mobility solutions that are intended to facilitate access to various means of transport. The focus is on the creation of a networked system that benefits the citizens in Rhineland in Bergisches.
A special focus is also on the "mobile stations", which act as innovative nodes for different means of transport. These projects should not only promote the use of public transport, but also contribute to the reduction of motorized private transport. In addition, a green mobile farm is being developed that will be responsible for the new hydrogen and battery-electric vehicles of the transport company.
The regional 2025 is not only an opportunity to promote current projects, but also a platform for future initiatives that aim to position the Rhein-Berg region as an innovative location for living, working and life. The events and other programs mentioned until July 2026 are in the sign of citizen participation and should address all interested parties to actively shape the future of the Bergisches Rhineland.
