Construction of two sports halls in Bad Godesberg

The municipal building management Bonn plans to build a new building of two one-way sports halls on the grounds of the Friedrich List vocational college in Bad Godesberg. The decision to implement the next planning phase was taken on May 8, 2025 by the Council of the City of Bonn.

The current state of sports facilities is inadequate because the existing single -town halls come from the 1950s and 1970s and are in need of renovation. According to their own analyzes, a comparison between the renovation and the new building results in the price of both options. In addition, a feasibility study shows that additional space can be obtained for the school yard with a new building.

The design provides for tearing off the two existing halls and instead building a new building complex, which includes two modern single sports halls. These are supplemented by changing room and sanitary facilities as well as adjoining rooms such as equipment rooms and technology rooms. Particular attention is paid to accessibility and the natural exposure of both halls. It is planned to use the sports facilities in the morning for school sports and in the afternoon for club sports.

Mayor Katja Dörner emphasizes that the investments in the city's sports infrastructure promote both school and club sport. The possibility of building two halls on top of each other also enables the schoolyard to enlarge.

The schedule stipulates that the construction work will begin at the end of 2027 and be completed by the end of 2028. The total costs for the project, including the necessary demolition work, are expected to be at least 15.1 million euros.
