Wild Wings fail on Düsseldorf: Despite the outnumbered, no happy ending!

An exciting duel in the DEL ended with a surprising defeat for the Wild Wings Schwenningen against the bottom of the table, Düsseldorfer eG. Despite a strong shooting ratio of 43:26 and more game shares, the wild swans could not convince. The Düsseldorfers, who could only compete with three rows of storms, took the lead in the second minute with a goal by defender Kyle Cumiskey. Cheers broke out among the 100 DEG fans who traveled with them!

Schwenningen fought back into the game when Philip Feist equalized in the tenth minute. But luck was not a hold: a supposed goal by Zach Senyshyn was not recognized according to video evidence because of an alleged kick movement. In the second third, Teemu Pulkkinen then put the swans in the lead for the first time, but the Düsseldorf team promptly answered with an overpaid goal by Justin Richards in the 33rd minute. The game was now a real thriller!

crucial turning points

In the last third it got really hard for the Wild Wings. Brendan O’Donnell, who keeps hitting Schwenningen again and again, gave Düsseldorf 3-2 in the 48th minute. Shortly afterwards he increased to 4: 2 with a huge shot. The Wild Wings tried everything, pulled their goalkeeper, but the hoped -for compensation failed to do so. Despite the superiority in the shooting statistics, the disappointment was great. "Total statistics are statistics for losers," once said a trainer in Schwenningen, and that was exactly what was true today.

On Sunday the Wild Wings continue against the Grizzlys Wolfsburg. The fans hope for a turn in the season!
