New Year's Tradition in Villingen: Grenadier Corps welcomes with volleys in 2025!

Villingen-Schwenningen, Deutschland - On January 1, 2025, the 58th New Year's Ein of the Historical Grenadier Corps 1810 takes place in Villingen. The event begins at 7:45 a.m. on the front Hubenloch. This custom has its origin in the surviving winter covering of 1633 by Sweden and Württemberger.

The New Year's egging includes salute shots from four black powder cannons, with each salute representing a month of the new year. The twelfth salute is particularly dedicated and applies to friends and patrons of the corps who live in different countries, including Lithuania, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Slovakia, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and England. Visitors are invited to attend the custom and can enjoy warm drinks and Williams Christ schnapps from the women of the corps.

New Year's reception in the hospital cellar

After shooting, the Grenadier Corps marched to the New Year's reception in the hospital cellar under the Elisabethenturm. Krawazi soup and various drinks are offered there, and there is also a New Year's food. All citizens are welcome to spend the first hours of the new year together with the Grenadier Corps.
