On December 29, 2024, a catastrophic plane crash in South Korea, in which 179 people were killed. The scene of the accident was Muan Airport, where a Boeing 737-800 of the low-cost airline Jeju Air crashed into a concrete wall when landing and opened in flames. The airline currently operates a fleet of 41 Boeing 737, including 39 models of type 737-800 and two Boeing 737-8, and has recorded a high level of use of its machines in the past.
