Alex Murdaaugh murdered his wife and son to blur his traces, the court said

Alex Murdaugh "lived a lie" and only he could have killed his wife and son, the jury was communicated in his murder process.

The theft of millions of dollars by the excluded lawyer from South Carolina was about to uncovered, so he murdered her to blur his traces, said a prosecutor in his final place.

Mr. Murdaugh, 54, has not guilty in two charges for murder. He threatens 30 years to life in prison if he is convicted of one of the two charges.

his son Paul, 22, was shot twice with a shotgun and his wife Maggie, 52, was shot up to five times with a rifle outside of kennels on the family's property.

The process that took six weeks has taken a large part of the American public.

Prosecutors have argued that Mr. Murdaugh carried out the murders to arouse sympathy and thereby distract the attention of litany from financial crimes.

This included the theft of millions of dollars by his legal partners and customers who were used to nourish his opioid addiction.

In his final argument, prosecutor Creighton Waters said Mr. Murdaugh feared that his theft would be uncovered.

He made sure that his wife and younger son were in the family in Colleton County on June 7, 2021, said the prosecutor.

Mr. Waters said that the accused then killed her as part of a plan that was based on his knowledge of the functioning of diseases.

he said: "The pressure on this man was unbearable, and they all reached a crescendo on the day on which his wife and son was murdered by him."

The jury started the day with a visit to the crime scene.

At least one of them carefully examined the door frame of a warehouse in which Paul Murdaugh stood when he was killed.

The weapons used were not found.

An expert said that the markings on the cartridges that were found near Maggie Murdaugh's body with which a shooting range on the property of the family matched.

But there was no blood or DNA that connected the murders with Mr. Murdaugh.

Mr. Waters said: “Like all of these [Financial] the pressure, the defendant killed Maggie and Paul.

"The forensic timeline brings it there. The use of family weapons contributes to this. And his lies and his guilty actions afterwards confirm this."

He said Mr. Murdaugh lied for years to cover up his opioid dependency and "lived a lie".

He added: "After an exhaustive examination, there is only one person who had the motive who had the means had the opportunity to commit these crimes and also reveal their guilty behavior according to these crimes."

defenders have argued that the investigators have missed evidence such as fingerprints and shoe prints that could have led to the real murderers.
