Winterthur and Lucerne separate goalless

In the third game of the Super League season 2023/24, there was a zero number between FC Winterthur and FC Lucerne. After a sluggish start, the animated second half compensated the audience. However, both teams could not accommodate the ball in the opposing goal. There were two winners in the other Saturday games: Servette won against GC and St. Gallen.

The first 45 minutes on the shooting meadow were shaped by a typical scanning. FC Lucerne had slight advantages, but overall both teams that have not yet yet been recorded showed weak football. The highlight of a competitive first half was six yellow cards - three each per page.

In the second half, the game changed. The FCL coach Mario Frick made three substitutions and thus showed his dissatisfaction. Suddenly there were opportunities within five minutes. Winterthurs Nishan Burkart had the lead on his foot, but only hit the opposing goalkeeper. Shortly afterwards Marco Burch met the crossbar and then saved his head for the beaten goalkeeper. With this, the players had finally arrived in the game and an intensive game developed. Winterthur now exerted continuous pressure, but gave several promising opportunities. Goalkeeper Pascal Loretz showed glossy parades and thwarted more goals.

The Winterthurers were able to thank goalkeeper Loretz that they were at least getting one point. Despite a clear superiority in the second half, it remained with a zero number. In view of a statistics of 8: 1 goal shots, the Winterthurers have to be annoyed after the change of sides. Nevertheless, the season is still long and it is possible to build on it.

FC Luzern will switch directly to the European Cup after the game in the Super League. In the 2nd qualification round for the Conference League, you will meet Djurgardens Stockholm. Back in Switzerland, you receive the promoted Stade Lausanne-Offy three days later. For FC Winterthur, the Super League continues with an away game against FC Basel on Sunday.
