A notorious British fraudster who was the subject of a recently published Netflix documentary is sought by the French police because he injured two civil servants when he fled from identity control, local official said on Friday.

Martine Laporte, the mayor of Vidaillat in the sparsely populated region of Creuse, said that the fraudster Robert Hendy-Freegard has lived in the village since 2015.

work inspectors accompanied by police officers carried out a check in his kennel on Thursday, in which he breed dogs with his partner.

"While the police asked one of the partners to accompany them to the next station, the person started their vehicle and beat two officials before they fled," said the local police in a statement.

One of the officials was taken to the hospital with a heavy wound on the nose, while the suspect fled in an Audi A3

hendy-Freegard, a 51-year-old former seller and bartender, was called "puppet player" because of his ability to control his victims.

In 2005 he was sentenced to life imprisonment by a London court for deception, theft and kidnapping. At the negotiation in front of the Blackfriars Crown Court, seven victims told her money for luxury cars, expensive meals and five-star holidays while spending a MI5 agent.

The court heard that Hendy-Freegard should have lived according to the motto "Lies to convince".

The allegations of kidnapping were later lifted in the appeal procedure and it was released from prison in 2009.

At the beginning of this year he was the topic of the Netflix documentary The Puppet Master: Hunting the Ultimate Conman.

It showed the children of a woman who is believed to be his current partner Sandra Clifton, who said she was gone after she had met him in 2012.

He had told his victims that he was a British intelligence officer and they were on the run from terrorists.

one of them, Sarah Smith, remembered incidents that were brought to a so -called "safe house" with a bucket over her head, had to hide in cupboards to avoid visitors and spent three weeks in a closed bathroom with little food, convinced that she would be shot by a sniper if she dared to go.
