He referred to dealing with the AfD in the Thuringian district of Sonneberg, where all democratic parties would have supported the CDU candidates, since working with the AfD would not be an option.

Furthermore, Scholz was concerned about the riots in France, but does not expect that there will be similar riots in Germany. He emphasized that a lot had been done to cushion the high energy prices and to ensure energy supply security.

In terms of domestic policy issues, Scholz announced that the basic child protection would be introduced. He expects an agreement until the end of the summer break.

The traffic light government goes into the second half of the legislative period after the parliamentary summer break. Although Scholz hopes politically quieter times, major challenges such as dealing with the Russian war against Ukraine, the high inflation and the climate -friendly renovation of business and society remain. The increasing disputes within the traffic light parties have led to a significant decline in satisfaction according to surveys. However, the largest opposition party, the CDU, can hardly benefit from it, while the AfD books high survey values.
