Title: “Further training for PTA: Climate change and heat waves in focus”
Summer not only brings sunshine and high temperatures, but also the challenges of climate change. The effects of man-made global warming on health and everyday life are therefore the focus of the current training courses for pharmaceutical-technical assistants (PTA).
One of the advanced training deals with the topic "The Sustainable Pharmacy" and the measures that we can take against climate change. Because the increasing extreme temperatures are a direct result of global warming. In module 2 of this advanced training, the participants learn how to determine the CO2 balance, counteract electricity eaters in the pharmacy and work resource-friendly. The goal is not only to act sustainably, but also to include the entire team. Participants who missed module 1 can look at the learning video retrospectively, but the training point has already been awarded.
Further training deals with the topic "sick through heat". In view of the increasing temperatures and heat waves in summer, it is important to understand the health effects of heat and to know the appropriate behavior. Definitions are explained, the different bacterial compositions in different body regions are considered and the connection between the microbioma and physical and mental health explains. In addition, the participants learn how certain medication can influence the composition and functionality of the microbiome.
After all, there is also a further training on the subject of "blood products" especially for PTA. Here the special features of the documentation of blood products are discussed in public pharmacies. The additional documentation obligations and the duration of the storage of the documents are explained to ensure correct storage and handling.
The editorial team of the PTA in the pharmacy also recommends that module 1 of video e learning on the subject of sustainability, since it also deals with the consequences of climate change, including heat waves.
