Airplane crash in China could have been intentional, Black Box shows

A jet of China Eastern Airlines, crashed in March, was deliberately crashed by someone in the cockpit, as data from the aircraft's black box apparently suggested.

The aircraft with 123 passengers and nine crew members deliberately crashed under the control of someone on board, the Wall Street Journal reported on people who were familiar with a preliminary assessment of US officials.

"The plane did what someone had told him in the cockpit," the WSJ quoted a source.

recovered Black-Box flight data recorders were sent to the United States after the crash for analysis.

A western official told Reuters that the focus was on the campaign actions after the preliminary investigation had not found a reference to a technical disorder.

Boeing Co, the manufacturer of the jet, rejected a statement and referred questions to the Chinese supervisory authorities. The US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) did not initially comment.

In March, the Boeing 737-800, which was on the way from Kunming to Guangzhou, crashed into the mountains of Guangxi after suddenly falling from the travel height, with all 132 people on board. It was the deadliest aircraft disaster on the Chinese mainland for 28 years.

The weather at the time of the crash was "normal", the authorities said in March. The control tower had regularly contacted the three pilots until the plane started a sudden descent.

in mid-April China Eastern resumed the 737-800 aircraft. In a summary of their preliminary crash report last month, according to experts, the Chinese supervisory authorities did not refer to technical recommendations for the 737-800, which has been in use since 1997.

The chairwoman of the NTSB, Jennifer Homendy, said in a Reuters interview on May 10 that the board and Boeing investigator had traveled to China to support the Chinese investigation. She found that the previous investigation had not resulted in any security problems that would require urgent measures.

Ms. Homendy said that if the board has security concerns, he will "issue urgent security recommendations".

The Boeing stocks rose by 5.9 percent in the afternoon trade.
