Heavy summer storm: Start of youth camps are postponed

A violent summer storm is announcing itself, which is to sweep over the north of Germany in the next few days. The fire brigade in the north is preparing intensively for this storm location, since the hurricane can reach speeds of up to 130 km/h. Due to the high wind speeds, the chainsaws in particular are checked in order to be able to act quickly with fallen or broken trees. Especially in the flat region of East Frisia, the missing mountains and hills represent a large area of attack for the storm.

Not only the fire brigade, but also the organizers of a youth tent camp in Hage are willing to alert due to the upcoming storm. Originally, the tent camp, in which 900 young people should take part, was to start on time at the beginning of the holiday. However, due to the considerable dangers that the storm could bring with it, those responsible have decided to postpone the start of the camp. The tents are additionally secured to counteract possible damage.

The weather forecast indicates that this summer storm could be one of the most violent of the past 30 years. The residents of the affected regions are therefore called up to prepare for possible storm sequences and to secure their houses and gardens in good time. Trees near buildings should be kept in mind to avoid damage to roofs or other buildings.

The fire brigade and other rescue workers are already on standby and are prepared for possible damage. The population is asked to take the warnings and instructions of the emergency services seriously and to choose the emergency call in the event of danger.

It remains to be seen how the summer storm actually develops and what damage it brings with it. However, the fire brigade and other aid organizations are well prepared and are ready to minimize possible damage and to support the citizens in this challenging situation.
