Wood transporter loses load on A5: kilometer -long traffic jam after accident

wooden transporter loses load on the A5 - dusting and traffic disruptions

On the A5 motorway near Frankfurt, an accident occurred yesterday, which led to significant traffic disruptions. A wooden transporter skidded due to aquaplaning and lost part of his cargo.

Fortunately, no one was injured in this incident. The trailer overturned and distributed tree trunks on all lanes, which required a blocking of the A5. The police announced that the highway remains "closed until further notice".

The accident occurred around 2 p.m. and led to a kilometer -long traffic jam that formed from the Bad Homburg cross. Until 3:30 p.m., traffic in a distance of about seven kilometers was dammed. The Frankfurt police recommended the exit at the Northwest Cross to get to the Westkreuz via the A66 and the A648.

The incident also raises the question of the planned ten -lane expansion of the A5 between the Northwest Cross and Frankfurter Kreuz. This expansion is controversial and there is a question of whether it is necessary during the mobility turnaround.

It remains to be seen how long the blocking of the A5 will continue and how quickly the traffic can flow again. In such cases, it is important that the safety of road users has a top priority and that corresponding measures are taken to prevent further accidents.
