Hyperloop test track in Ottobrunn near Munich ceremoniously opened
Ottobrunn-After almost a year of construction, the Hyperloop test track in Ottobrunn near Munich was officially opened. In the future, passengers in airless capsules should be able to travel with speeds of up to 850 kilometers per hour. The test track includes a concrete vacuum tube and a original size passenger vehicle. According to the Technical University of Munich (TUM), it is Europe's first completely certified test track in real size.
The opening on Wednesday afternoon was accompanied by a prominent line -up. Prime Minister Markus Söder, Minister of Science Markus Blume and Alexander Braun, Vice President for Digitization and IT systems at TUM, were present at the event. The TUM is in charge of this project and has had great success in competitions with its hyperloop teams in the past. Around ten years ago, Elon Musk developed the idea of the hyperloop and advertised competitions for students worldwide. The TUM teams were always able to take first place. The Hyperloop program is now an integral part of research at TUM and is financially supported by the Free State of Bavaria.
Hyperloop technology promises ultra-fast trips around the world and could revolutionize passenger transport. The air resistance is minimized by using vacuum in the tube, which means that high speeds can be achieved. The project in Ottobrunn is intended to further develop and optimize the technology. In the future, hyperloop connections between different cities could be created and travel significantly shortened.
The opening of the hyperloop test track in Ottobrunn marks another milestone in the development of this future-oriented technology. Germany and Bavaria take a leading role in this and show that they are ready to drive new innovative traffic concepts.
