Insolvency at Dornbracht-Daughter Alape: Problems due to falling demand and high energy prices

subsidiary of the dash manufacturer Dornbracht reports bankruptcy

Iserlohn/Goslar. A subsidiary of the dash manufacturer Dornbracht has filed for bankruptcy. Alape GmbH belongs to the Iserlohners 100 percent.

The Alape GmbH, a 100 % subsidiary of the dash manufacturer Dornbracht from Iserlohn, applied for the opening of insolvency proceedings on Tuesday. According to the company, the cause is the significant slump in demand, especially in Germany and the increased energy prices. Alape based in Goslar produces vanity made of glazed steel.

"For a small company like Alape GmbH, the business model with its energy -intensive production under the new German framework conditions after the energy transition is no longer economical," says managing director Bodo Müller from the court in addition to the global political unrest that led to reluctance in consumption, also current political decisions in Berlin for the financial emergency. "The competitive pressure through imports, especially from the Far East and the strong dependence on the European core markets, ultimately forced this tragic step for us."

Unlike the subsidiary, Dornbracht himself has a "profitable growth", as Managing Director Stefan Gesing emphasized in an interview with the home newspaper about a month ago. The dash manufacturer with the main plant in Sümmen also feel that in the face of falling real wages there has been a "loss of wealth". However, international business is significantly more important for Dornbracht than for Alape.

"With a share of less than 20 percent, Germany is no longer our largest, but still an important market for us. We have been greater in China and the USA for a year or two," said Stefan Gesing in the interview. "And given the different growth dynamics, the distances will probably even increase in the next few years."

Alape GmbH has been part of Dornbracht since 2001. There are more articles from this section here: Iserlohn.
