Mike Pompeo rejects Donald Trump because he gets out of the 2024 race

Mike Pompeo, America's former top diplomat, refused to support Donald Trump's presidential candidate when he retired from the 2024 race.

The former US foreign minister was one of Mr. Trump's volume defenders in office, but had indicated for months that he would challenge his former boss for the Republican nomination.

, however, he could not prevail in surveys among the GOP primary voters, since a core base remained true to Mr. Trump.

ron Desantis, the governor of Florida, is the only other potential candidate who achieves double -digit values in most surveys.

"Time is not the right one for me and my family," said Pompeo in an explanation.

Mr. Pompeo claimed that Mr. Trump did not take his decision into account, but he expressed a veiled criticism of the former president, whom he first served as a CIA director and then as Foreign Minister.

"I think the Americans are thirsting for people who argue, not only after tweets," he said. "I think you are looking for someone who can clearly articulate your vision."

he added: "I don't know whether this will be President Trump, which the American people choose or whether our party will choose him as a candidate.

"But I hope that these debates about real arguments will be things that are really important."



Mr. Pompeo heated speculation about an application in 2024, had traveled to the early primary states and had undertaken an advertising tour for his latest memoirs, Never Give A Inch: Fighting for the America I Love.

When asked who he would support in the 2024 primary elections, Mr. Pompeo said, he was waiting to "find out who this right person is", but did not rule out a rival of Mr. Trump.

Mr. Pompeo, 59, added that he had not excluded a future offer.

Mr. Trump, meanwhile, claimed on Saturday that he had only strengthened his influence on his party.

The Republicans are "very satisfied with my surveys".

The 76-year-old has gathered republicans because he is pursued in New York due to payments and other pending investigations and is a victim of a democratic conspiracy.

In a post on his social media platform, Mr. Trump said on Saturday: "The DESS work hard on various forms of fraud."
