Prince Charles and Camilla invite executives for the Commonwealth dinner in Rwanda

They had posed for the family photo, who kept talking and dealt with politics behind closed doors.

On Friday evening it was time to relax when the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall joined the President and Prime Minister for the traditional Commonwealth dinner in Kigali, Rwanda.

There was a lot of glamor-the Duchess, elegant in the blue dress of Bruce Oldfield, in which she recently pisted for the Vogue and gave her new GARTER star his first official charisma.

Carrie Johnson wore a black needle-and-thread dress, and then there was her husband, the prime minister, whose shirt was going out and screamed at democracy.

The Government Dinner traditionally takes place on the opening day of the half -year meeting of the head of government of the Commonwealth.

The prince and the Duchess were the official hosts of the evening and welcomed the heads of government on behalf of the queen in the Marriott Hotel.

The event has a somewhat less formal character than on previous occasions, which may be illustrated by the Duchess's decision not to wear a tiara.

The happy atmosphere might limit to relief after a hard day.

Boris Johnson not only suffered the greatest subsequent defeat in British history, but Baroness Scotland was re -elected as Secretary General of the Commonwealth when his management colleagues opposed his attempts to suppress them.

it assumes that the blows behind his cries of "democracy, democracy" when he lifted a shot -up hand into the air.

for the prince who gave a pioneering speech about slavery and the demolition of the connection with the monarchy, it was time to relax.

after he had also survived his personal meeting with Mr. Johnson without further unpleasant evidence of his personal views of migrant policy in Rwanda, he was able to afford a few jokes.

with laughter, the prince expressed his relief that the event was not carried out by Zoom and there were no silent buttons that could create confusion.

In a short speech, he also thanked his hosts for the "special" visit and found that Rwanda had the highest number of female parliamentarians in the Commonwealth, and praised the sporting skills and world-class dishes such as Ahorns syrup and Nasi Goreng.

"Who knows, with a record of six Commonwealth countries that qualified for the final round of the World Cup in November, football may be added to this impressive list," he said.

"You can only dream."

The prince and the Duchess got up to greet the leaders of the traditional list.

The first to talk to them were Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, who were warmly welcomed, while Carrie made a deep kink to the heir to the throne.

After the royals welcomed all 54 heads of state and government and their partners, they took part in a reception on an outside terrace for about half an hour.

The menu, which was selected, taking into account cultural, religious and dietary sensitivities

There were chicken with wild mushrooms, withered amaranth leaves and maniok croquettes, followed by maracuja cheese cake with watermelon, lime and yogurt.

The coffee came with the kind permission of a local social business organization that offers female Rwandic coffee farmers.

There was also maurite rum, Scottish whiskey, Australian brandy and Maltese lemoncello liqueur.

The music played during dinner was performed by three Rwandian musicians, one of whom played the Inanga, a traditional instrument.

The table attachments-traditional Rwandic braided baskets, which are known as "peace baskets"-were particularly woven out of the swamps and mountains in Rwanda for dinner by Übe weavers from environmentally friendly raw materials such as long grass.

The craft is called Agaseke and the baskets are traditionally used to bring gifts to friends and family, a symbol of peace, giving and friendship.

The baskets had been found by the prince's team in the Clarence House when they made a visit, and Buckingham Palace loved them so much that they decided to integrate them into the decoration for the night.

In the meantime, the prince probably recognized the mats in the middle of the table, which were made by women in Mayange Reconciliation Village, which he visited on Wednesday, in the logo colors of Chogm 2022.

Even the napkins used during dinner were produced by the Nyamirambo Women’s Center to address a project that aims to tackle gender -specific violence, gender -specific inequality and discrimination.

Two toasts were applied before dinner: the first on the Commonwealth by the Prime Minister of Tonga and the second to the queen of the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, who warmly spoke of the love and admiration of the Commonwealth for their majesty.

Maybe it was wise that former statements by the Foreign Minister of Antigua, who had indicated that the Caribbean island "closed the circle" and a republic, did not want to be mentioned.

The prince was sitting next to Rwanda's President Paul Kagame and the first Lady of Sierra Leone, Fatima Bio, while the Duchess was trapped between the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo.

All Commonwealth leaders had a golden chalice with their emblem and their country, which was engraved next to their pastor, a thoughtful gesture of Buckingham Palace.

Before they broke down to the Kigali International Airport, Charles and Camilla met employees who had played a role in the delivery of dinner or helped elsewhere to make their visit so unforgettable.

You should end up in Great Britain on Saturday.
