Reichsbürger Peter Fitzek sentenced to 8-month prison sentence
judgment against Reich citizen Peter Fitzek for assault and insult
On July 13, 2023, the district court of Wittenberg made a judgment against the so -called Reich citizen Peter Fitzek. He was sentenced to a prison sentence of eight months without probation for intentional assault and insult. However, the judgment is not yet final.
The native of Halle had joined a woman in the district building of the district of Wittenberg last year during a verbal argument against a door and kicked her foot after her. He also insulted two Bundeswehr people who wanted to provide help. Fitzek's defense applied for an acquittal, but he was ultimately spoken guilty.
Reichsbürger are people who do not recognize the Federal Republic of Germany as a sovereign state and reject their democratic structures. According to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution, there are about 23,000 supporters of this movement, some of whom are assessed as violent and right -wing extremists.
Peter Fitzek founded the “Kingdom of Germany” self -invented in Wittenberg in 2012 and appointed himself to the head. The protection of the constitution describes this fantasy state as such. In this "kingdom", among other things, "Reichsführercheinsche", "Reichswäwerkeins" and "Reich passes" are exhibited, but they have no legal force.
The pronouncement of the judgment against Peter Fitzek shows that the German legal system does not tolerate such illegal activities and imposes corresponding penalties. It remains to be seen whether the judgment is confirmed in the appeal and thus becomes final.
