It was the first far -reaching radio interview by Mr. Desantis in the middle of feverish speculation that he would challenge Donald Trump for the Republican nomination.

"I will tell you, although my book has hit [his]," he said Piers Morgan in an interview on Talktv.

"His book had come out earlier, number one, and when I got number one, I was higher than Prince Harry," said Desantis.

In the interview in the interview, Mr. Desantis expressed his admiration for Sir Winston Churchill and said that the personal behavior of a guide was important in a veiled blow to Mr. Trump.

The Governor of Florida also took his characterization of the Russian War in Ukraine as a "territorial dispute" after he was criticized by high -ranking Republicans.

Mr. Desantis said Morgan that his previous comments refer to the continuing battles in the eastern Donbass region and to the seizure of Crimea by Russia in 2014.

"There are many ethnic Russians there. So that's a difficult fight, and I referred to it, and so I didn't think that Russia had a right to do it, and if I should have done it clearer, I could have done it," he said.

The borders of Ukraine are internationally recognized, also by the United Nations.
