Pregnant biathlon-ace controls comeback instead of baby break

The biathlete Baiba Bendika is about to be delivered, but does not think of a baby break, but works on the comeback.

The biathlon stars are in the middle of preparing for the new season. In order for the success to settle in the coming winter, the basics will be trained in summer and worked on the fitness. The individual athletes can only dream of vacation and leisure, they mask in mass training kilometers and get in shape.

"If everything goes well and without complications, if the little one allows me to train and sleep, I'll be back on the race track next winter," said the 32-year-old to the Nordicmag online portal.

As she says herself, she actually trains 15 to 20 hours a week with two sessions a day. At the moment it leaves it with a daily unit.

"I feel very good and ready to come back at the beginning of winter", Bendika was extremely motivated and optimistic. It is unclear when exactly she wants to get in the World Cup. The first race takes place at the end of November and is likely to come too early. But in the course of winter a comeback is quite realistic.

The Lettin, who made his debut in the World Cup in 2011, is not part of the world leaders in biathlon. Last winter, however, she achieved historical. In the single mixed relay at the World Cup in Nove Mesto, she and her compatriot Andrejs Rastorgujevs reached third place and thus the first podium of a Latvian team. (SMR)
