Tschernobyl managers who fled the nuclear power plant was arrested for collaboration with Russians

A high-ranking Chernobyl manager was arrested after Ukrainian armed forces had accused him of working with the Russians who tried to conquer the nuclear power plant.

The Ukrainian police and secret services have arrested the deputy head of the work that are not mentioned by name, but only announced the arrest.

"The soldier fled out of the ward and provided no physical protection for the facility, which was part of its functional responsibilities," said the DBR, the state investigative office of Ukraine, in a statement. "DBR officials also examine the possible participation of the official in subversive activities against Ukraine. In particular ... whether he helped the Russian military to conquer Chernobyl at the end of February."

The conquest of Chernobyl, three hours of car north of Kiev, was one of the main goals of the Russian army when she marched to Ukraine on February 24th.

Russian soldiers took control of the location for about a month, which gained global shame because of its 1986 nuclear explosion before retiring across the border.

Russian soldiers were ordered to build their camps in the so -called “Red Forest”, which was named because he had taken up so much radiation that he shone in the dark in March.

The DBR said that the deputy head of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant had fled from the location to the Carpathians in the west of Ukraine, an area that the Russian army had not yet attacked.

"DBR officials carried out searches in the administrative rooms of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in cooperation with SBU officials. Several searches were carried out at the place of residence of the accused. Documents and digital media were confiscated in the investigation," it said.

The SBU is the domestic secret service of Ukraine.

Ukraine has intensified its search for collaborators. Russia had risen that the Ukrainians welcomed their armed forces when they marched in, and expected to be welcomed as a liberator who would free Ukraine from the Nazis. Instead, it met with massive resistance to its invasion.
