The organizer rejects criticism of Bruce-Springsteen concert in Baden-Württemberg.
On Friday evening, a concert by Bruce Springsteen took place at the Hockenheimring, in which around 80,000 people were present. However, many visitors reported a bad organization, while the organizer rejected the allegations.
The concert evening started a little later than planned, as many fans got stuck due to a traffic chaos. However, the police announced that there were no major incidents and the concert was largely smooth.
The entrance started at 4:30 p.m., but from 3 p.m. the traffic on the access roads. The concert finally started at 7:30 p.m. because many fans were still on the full streets or on their way by train. By 8:30 p.m., people were still on their way to the concert. Visitors not only criticized the traffic management, but also the security concept, especially in the two tunnels.
The organizer rejected the allegations of a bad organization. He explained that the ticket holders were informed in advance that they should plan more time to travel due to construction sites on the highways. The event manager also emphasized that the security concept is based on many years of experience and approvals of several positions, including the police and the city of Hockenheim.
An emergency doctor who was on site as a visitor criticized the way the visitors were led by the tunnels. He criticized the narrow points and the lack of alternative opportunities. Some visitors even compared the Situation with the accident at the Loveparade 2010 in Duisburg, where 21 people died.
There were a total of 135 missions on the concert area, with around twenty people to be taken to the hospital. There were also problems at the train station, where the paramedics had to move out due to circulatory problems and falls. A total of 262 emergency services of the German Red Cross were deployed.
For the arrival and departure to the Hockenheimring, visitors not only had to spend a lot of time, but also a lot of money. The parking facilities on site were expensive, and if you only bought your parking ticket on site, you had to dig deeper into your pocket. Some visitors reported problems on arrival by car and praised the police support on site.
Other visitors decided to avoid the traffic chaos by cycling to the concert by bike. In addition, there was a new access and output concept on the Hockenheimring to ensure a smooth process.
Overall, the Bruce Springsteen concert at the Hockenheimring was characterized by poor organization and traffic problems. Although the concert was otherwise without major incidents, the defects in the organization were criticized by many visitors.
