Tettnang on the abyss: debts rise at record height!
Tettnang on the abyss: debts rise at record height!
A debt mountain that grows to dizzying heights! The city of Tettnang faces a financial disaster, because the budget situation remains tense. Last Wednesday, treasurer Claudia Schubert presented the preliminary figures and the planned investments for 2025. The parliamentary factions of the local council must now advise before the budget is finally determined. The forecasts are alarming: the debt level will increase from 49.4 million euros in 2025 to terrifying 78.8 million euros in 2028!
The income of the city is mainly made up of taxes that make up over 60 percent of the total income. A tax revenue of more than 44 million euros is expected for 2025, with trade tax is the largest source of income at 19.5 million euros. But the expenditure is enormous: around 31.7 million euros are required for transfer expenses, including the district levy, which the city will burden the city in 2025 with 12.6 million euros. Schubert appeals to the district council to avoid an increase in the circular levy, as this would cost an additional 400,000 euros.
Investments and projects in focus
Planting the city plans to take out loans of 18 million euros in the coming year in order to finance large projects. This includes the construction of a new sports hall, for which 5.5 million euros are planned, as well as the construction of a roundabout at the Schäferhof/Oberhof intersection, which costs 1.1 million euros. The renovation of urban buildings is also on the agenda, including the roof renovation of the Carl Gührer-Halle, which is urgently necessary due to moisture.
The personnel costs that make up 29 percent of the expenditure amounted to 23.7 million euros in 2025. This sum refers to a full job occupation, which, however, is often not achieved in reality. The administration has also made proposals for additional positions in the senior sector to enable older people to make a self -determined life. The future of the city of Tettnang is on the brink - the financial challenges are huge!
