Tuttlingen swimmers shine at the Leonberger Sprinter Cup!
Last weekend, the 15th International Sender Cup of Water Friends took place in the outdoor pool in Mühlacker, and the local swimming community shone in all its glory. 472 athletes from all over Baden-Württemberg competed in a variety of age groups, and among them were numerous talented swimmers from the Wasserfreunde who achieved impressive results. They collected a total of 33 final qualifications and were able to celebrate 7 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals. Particularly noteworthy was the pursuit race, in which Lars März won the gold medal for the men, while Greta Gloss secured silver for the women. The event's supporters included the city of Mühlacker and sponsors such as Ensinger and Speedo.
But the swimming elite were not only active at the Sendercup. TG Tuttlingen also caused a sensation at the Leonberger Sprinter Cup. Aaron Dizendorf shone with two new personal best times. Gabriel Petrella also won bronze in the 100 meter freestyle in 1:12.64 minutes and also secured a medal in the 50 meter backstroke in 39.89 seconds. In the youth final he improved to 39.55 seconds and came in fifth place. With a strong mixed relay team (age: 2012), he and Lisa Vogler, Ivan Kolobov and Leonie Henke whirled to an excellent second place in 2:18.60 minutes.
Great performance from TG Tuttlingen
Gabriel's brother, Davide Petrella, also showed his outstanding talent: He qualified for the final in the 50 meter backstroke in 32.59 seconds and took third place in the open classification and second place in the 2008 class. He also won the 100 meter breaststroke class in a time of 1:11.64 minutes. Leonard Müller (born in 2010) was also able to celebrate two silver medals: in the 100 meter breaststroke in 1:22.77 minutes and ninth place in the 100 meter freestyle and 200 meter freestyle.
Another winner was Leonie Henke, who won gold in the 100 meter breaststroke in 1:40.90 minutes and qualified seventh in the 100 meter freestyle (1:28.20 minutes). Together with the mixed relay she performed fantastically. Lisa Vogler was also able to achieve top positions: she came fifth in the 100 meter freestyle (1:21.82 minutes) and sixth in the 50 meter butterfly (43.19 seconds).
A look ahead to the championships
The TG Tuttlingen swimmers now face further challenges: Leonard Müller and Davide Petrella have qualified for the Württemberg championships, which will take place on July 19th and 20th in the Böblingen outdoor pool. With their recent performances they have shown the potential to impress there too and fight for medals.
Swimming is a sport that connects athletes and spectators and plays a central role from the Olympic Games to local competitions. The most recent competitions demonstrate how important such platforms are for the development of young talent, while the organization of such events rests on the shoulders of many helpers and sponsors. We can only hope that numerous exciting swimming competitions can continue to be held in the future, which will delight both participants and spectators. Now it's time to keep your fingers crossed for all athletes!
