Experience the future of energy: tour of the Aichach biomass cogeneration plant!
In recent years, the focus on renewable energies has increased significantly, and one of the most exciting projects in our region is the biomass combined heat and power plant (BMHKW) in Aichach. Not only is regional wood chips being used sensibly here, but we are also making a contribution to the energy transition. On Thursday, November 6th, from 4:30 p.m., managing director Mr. Brandner will give a tour of the BMHKW premises and provide insights into the fascinating world of biomass. The event is free and is organized in collaboration with the adult education center (vhs) and the climate protection department of the Aichach-Friedberg district office.
The BMHKW supplies not only households, but also public buildings with important district heating, which comes from sustainably sourced resources. In addition to heat production, electricity is also generated here and fed into the public grid, showing how versatile and efficient biomass obtained from living and recently living organisms can be. This type of energy production not only makes ecological sense, but also has the potential to combat climate change. Further information about biomass can be found at Wikipedia.
A look behind the scenes
The target group of the event are both young people and adults who are interested in renewable energies and climate protection. Prior registration is required, either by phone on 08251 8737-0 or online at www.vhs-aichach-friedberg.de with the course number E25103-01. It also becomes clear here that the BMHKW is part of the Wittelsbacher Land energy trail, which is home to a total of 24 systems for the use of renewable energies in the Aichach-Friedberg district. Anyone interested has the opportunity to explore various systems by bike on an adventurous energy quiz tour.
Biomass itself is a complex term that includes not only the mass of plants, but also animals and microorganisms. Their use to generate energy makes a significant contribution to environmental protection and mitigating climate change. Examples of bio-based products derived from biomass include biofuels, biogas and bioplastics. These facets show how extensive and important the topic of biomass is and make it clear why it is worth taking part in the tour of the BMHKW Aichach.
For those who are looking for further information, the Aichach-Friedberg District Office website at lra-aic-fdb.de offers numerous resources and opportunities for further training in the area of renewable energies and climate protection.
