Art and culture on the Inn: Opening of the exhibition in Altötting!
There is currently a creative melting pot of art in Altötting. From October 10 to November 23, 2025, the “INN Neighborhood” exhibition takes visitors on a journey along the Inn, one of the most striking rivers that winds over 517 kilometers through Lower Bavaria and the Innviertel in Upper Austria. How Samerberger News reports, the exhibition shows works of art by talented artists whose creative currents flow along the Inn. The opening is planned for a vernissage on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at 7 p.m.
Tap and listen: On November 2nd at 11 a.m., the artist Fritz Hörauf will give a guided tour of the exhibition. With his drawings and oil paintings, Hörauf creates fantastic landscapes that do not simply depict reality, but rather illustrate the “spiritual home” and the deep spiritual connections to sacred places. On November 5th at 6 p.m., Christian Haringer, 2nd chairman of the Oettinger Heimatbund e.V., will report on the artistic work of the Schlee artists' workshop. Admission is free, but registration at the Citizens and Tourist Information Center is recommended so that no one is left empty-handed.
Artists and contributions
The exhibition presents not only works by Fritz Hörauf, but also by other notable artists such as Alto Hien, Christine Perseis, Dominik Dengl, Stefan Glas, Rudolf Huber-Wilkoff, Elisabeth Watzek, Franz Stadler and Martha Sztama. But that's not all! Literary contributions from talented authors such as Emma Berger and Lara Röckl will also delight visitors and enrich the entire exhibition, which is part of the Interreg funding project “verbINNdungen”, supported by the INTERREG Bavaria-Austria 2021-2027 program LRA AOE can be read.
The concept of the exhibition is to focus on the neighborhoods along the Inn from Lower Bavaria to the Innviertel. Contemporary perspectives in painting, sculpture, mixed media and literature will be on display. Digital 3D panoramas will also contribute to the experience of the exhibition and offer visitors a completely new experience.
Tourism and culture as a motor
Behind the exhibition is not only the inspiring art scene, but also a comprehensive initiative for cross-border tourism. The project “Cross-Border Tourism Initiative: Culture as a Motor” aims to promote sustainable cooperation between cultural organizers in the region. Every year the Inntal, Chiemsee and Kaisergebirge region attracts thousands of guests who take part in international festivals. The partners from Austria and Germany want to increase the visibility of classical music and the artistic landscape of the region through joint campaigns Interreg is explained in detail.
The “Neighborhoods by the Inn” exhibition is an exciting opportunity for art lovers to engage with the cultural perspectives of a region that combines both history and modernity. The Stadtgalerie Altötting at Papst-Benedikt-Platz 3 is open during opening hours on Thursdays and Fridays from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visit the artists and discover their unique perspectives on the Inn - an experience not to be missed!
