Last chance: Gerhard Polt and the well brothers in Frankfurt!
Alte Oper, Frankfurt am Main, Deutschland - Christoph "Stofferl" Well (65) and the Well Brüder enjoy over 40 years of collaboration with cabaret artist Gerhard Polt (82), who has significantly shaped the German cabaret. In her latest interview, Well expresses that Polt feels a certain tour of tour. The well -known artist does not want to take long trips and will perform in the Alte Oper in Frankfurt am Main on Sunday evening, which could possibly be his last appearance in this city. Despite their age of over 65, the Well Brüder are planning to celebrate their 50th Bühnenn anniversary, even if they are actually retired. However, they do not want to stop fully, but instead consider their own smaller appearances at home.
In the interview, well is concerned about the state of the world and criticizes unpleasant political actors such as US President Donald Trump, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and China President Xi Jinping. He describes the current world as a "sales product" and believes that many people only go to work in order to be able to afford new iPhones. Here he emphasizes that even bad things can produce positive gallows humor, especially in the face of unchangeable conditions such as death, CSU and FC Bayern.
The development of Gerhard Polt
Gerhard Polt, born on May 7, 1942 in Munich, had a massive career in the cabaret and film area. His childhood was shaped by the Second World War when his mother moved to Altötting with him to protect himself from bombing in Munich. After the war, the family returned to Munich in 1951, where he moved to Maxvorstadt in 1957. Later he studied political science and history and sometimes acquired broad knowledge in various specialist areas.
Polt's stage career began in 1975 with the “Little Nachtrevue” in Munich's little freedom. Through numerous successes, including in the sketch series "Fast Wia in real life" and movies such as "Kehraus" and "Germanicus", he developed a permanent place in the German cabaret scene. Polt was also known for his pointed satirical appearances, which often addressed clichés about Germans, and he completed many of his stage rides together with Biermösl Blosn.
Current and future projects
Finally, Polt was committed to founding a "House of Humor" in Munich. This makes his endeavor to offer the cabaret and humor world a new platform even in old age. His criticism of politics also remains: in 2022 he signed an open letter to Chancellor Olaf Scholz against the delivery of heavy weapons to Ukraine. Despite his efforts, it is the upcoming performance in Frankfurt that emerges as a kind of markstone in his long career.
The Well Brüder and Gerhard Polt continue their traditional cooperation, even if the big tours of the past have more and more painful memories of the earlier days when traveling and performing were their main employment. The nostalgia and the desire for somewhat larger can be clearly felt in the words of Stofferl Well, while he is preparing for the upcoming performance.
