On Saturday, January 25, 2025, a supervised facility in Weiding came to a shattering incident: A 77-year-old resident attacked a 59-year-old in a wheelchair with a kitchen knife. The brutal argument occurred around 2:00 p.m. when the senior stabbed the victim several times. Thanks to the quick intervention of the care staff, the police were able to arrest the alleged attacker.

The 59-year-old was seriously injured, but his condition is not life-threatening. He immediately received medical care in the hospital and was released on the same day. The Amberg criminal police have started the investigation into attempted manslaughter in cooperation with the Regensburg public prosecutor. The defendant was brought up on Sunday to an investigative judge who issued an accommodation arrest warrant. The 77-year-old is now in a district clinic while the investigation continues.
