Friedrich Brandl celebrates 60 years of town twinning with a reading in Amberg!

The city of Amberg is facing a special event: On Thursday, November 20th, Friedrich Brandl will hold a reading in the city theater at 8 p.m. that will celebrate the conclusion of 60 years of twinning with Périgueux. A connection is created here between literature and music that will hardly leave anyone from Amberg untouched.

Brandl, who was one of the first travelers to Périgueux with the Catholic Youth before the official partnership was concluded in 1965, brings memories and experiences from France with him. He recorded these experiences in his books “Glock’n’Roll” and “Always in Sight”. It is not just stories but also poems that the audience can expect, all with a clear reference to France and its enchanting city of Périgueux.

An unforgettable evening

Musically, the evening will be enriched by Sebastian Birner, a talented pianist and co-founder of the band “Grögötz Weißbir”. Birner, who comes from Amberg, has dealt intensively with jazz and will present jazz standards together with pieces that refer to France. As a music and mathematics teacher at the Erasmus Gymnasium, he brings an additional level of commitment to the event that will leave a lasting impression.

The entry price for the evening is ten euros. This price already includes a drink and access to the studio stage. Tickets are available at the Amberg Tourist Information Office, either by phone, email or in the city theater's web shop. So if you want to spend the evening with stories and music in a friendly atmosphere, you should secure your ticket quickly!

Long-term friendships

The town twinning with Périgueux has created numerous friendships over the years that still exist today. This anniversary is not only a celebration of cultural connection, but also a fitting tribute to the relationships that have been nurtured for six decades. Friedrich Brandl is not only a contemporary witness, but also a living part of this history.

That sounds like an unforgettable evening in Amberg that not only reflects on the past years, but also looks into the future. Anyone interested in the topics of friendship, culture and literature should not miss this event.
