Five fire brigade operations in the Aschaffenburg district – the risk of forest fires is increasing!
The fire is raging in the Aschaffenburg district! Five fire brigade operations caused a stir in one day. The dry summer weather conditions have resulted in an increased volume of operations, keeping firefighters on their toes. Already in tranquil Bessenbach, a car caught fire in the parking lot of a supermarket. In Wenighösbach, the courageous intervention of residents prevented something worse from happening when green growth near a garage burst into flames. In the town of Mömbris-Mensengesäß, an illegal campfire in the forest had to be extinguished, using a special forest fire tank fire engine, as Primavera24 reports.
The situation was particularly dramatic in Kahl, where undergrowth burned in an area of 500 square meters, right next to the clubhouse. In all cases, the fire brigade quickly got the situation under control so that more serious damage was prevented. The police are now investigating the cause of the fire and may uncover some interesting details.
The fires in Baden-Württemberg
But there are also fires in neighboring areas! On Saturday, June 23, 2025, fires in Stutensee and surrounding towns alerted the fire department. To be more precise, a forest fire in an approximately 1,500 square meter vegetation area between Stutensee and Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen caused a stir. Property damage was estimated at up to 15,000 to 20,000 euros. A large cloud of smoke was visible from afar as firefighters from the region and Karlsruhe rushed for help to quickly bring the flames under control, as Tagesschau reported.
On Sunday there was a fire in Waghäusel, and on Monday night there was another fire near Karlsruhe-Neureut. In Neureut, a wildfire of around 50 x 5 meters was reported when a hedge on Lake Heide caught fire. Here too, the fire brigade struggled with the water supply under difficult conditions. A farmer supported the emergency services with a tractor and mulcher to remove embers and prevent them from spreading.
Increased risk of forest fires in summer
The German Weather Service (DWD) sounds the alarm and warns of an increased risk of forest fires with the second highest warning level. This is due to low rainfall and high temperatures, which create optimal conditions for fires. The forest fire danger index (WBI), which is used by state authorities to assess the risk, shows how high the risk is that a fire will break out. It ranges from level 1 (very low danger) to level 5 (very high danger). Especially between March and October, when the risk of forest fires is particularly high, everyone should be careful and adhere to the existing rules, including a general smoking ban, as Minister Peter Hauk (CDU) is calling for, according to DWD.
An exciting and challenging time for fire departments - stay vigilant and report suspicious smoke signals immediately!
