New fire truck in Wallersdorf: 25-year-old vehicle replaced!

In Wallersdorf in the Dingolfing-Landau district there was a special occasion to celebrate early on Wednesday morning: the fire department received its new supply truck, a MAN TGM 18.320, which replaces a 25-year-old previous vehicle. The purchase cost an impressive 300,000 euros, but it will prove valuable for the emergency services. The old box simply no longer met the requirements of a modern fire engine. The Passauer Neue Presse reports that the market council opened the purchasing channels for this in February 2023.

When the new car was picked up, numerous firefighters gathered at the fire station to greet the vehicle with cheerful applause. Mayor Franz Aster then had Commander Florian Kramhöller explain the technical details to him. This new truck has an engine of 320 hp and offers an impressive payload of 18 tons. Equipped with a strong lifting platform and various storage boxes, it will be made available to firefighters in the coming days. A celebration is planned for the consecration next year.

Technical details and briefing

What makes this truck so special? On the one hand, there are the diverse equipment elements. The lifting platform makes the firefighters' work much easier and ensures that they can act quickly and efficiently in an emergency. The vehicle proudly bears the Wallersdorf coat of arms on the side, which further helps with identification. In the coming days, the fire brigade will receive detailed instructions on the new technology so that the engine can ignite at full power.

The need for such purchases is also linked to the new Specialist recommendations from the German Fire Brigade Association clear that affect the tendering and purchase of fire engines. This comprehensive update offers practical advice from budget planning to determining needs and legally compliant order processing. Lars Oschmann, Vice President of the DFV, emphasizes how important the purchase of new vehicles is for the safety of communities and the efficiency of fire departments.

A benefit for the entire community

This procurement is undoubtedly a stroke of luck for the community of Wallersdorf. The club even provided a snack and some drinks to celebrate the new vehicle, which further increased the camaraderie on the day. A new vehicle means greater operational readiness and therefore more safety for all citizens. In the next few months, the firefighters will certainly have a lot of fun with it and at the same time be better prepared in an emergency.
