On Monday morning, March 3, 2025, there was a dramatic traffic accident in Butjadingen, in which two people were seriously injured. Around 7:30 a.m., a 48-year-old driver lost control of his Ford on the state road between Tossens and Ruhwarden. In a right curve, the vehicle got left off the road and landed in a ditch. The man suffered serious injuries and had to be flown to the hospital with a rescue helicopter.
