Serious accident at Wertach: Motorist with helicopter to the hospital

Two people were injured in a dramatic frontal collision near Wertach on Tuesday afternoon. An 86-year-old driver, who was traveling from Wertach towards Oberjoch, wanted to turn, took the right of way to an oncoming driver. The resulting impact was so violent that her car was thrown aside.

The older lady had to be freed from her car with heavy equipment and was then flown to the hospital with a rescue helicopter because her injuries were life -threatening. The driver of the other vehicle, on the other hand, only suffered minor injuries. The property damage amounts to around 37,000 euros, although both cars are no longer ready to drive and had to be towed. The volunteer fire brigades Wertach and Oy-Mittelberg were on site with around 40 emergency services to help with rescue and traffic control. The road was completely closed until 12:00 p.m. before it was partially released.
