19 trees in Unterhaching fell - citizens are outraged by felling action!
Unterhaching, Deutschland - A tree does not just fall that way - the Unterhachinger now knows that only too well. In Ottobrunner Straße, the felling of 19 trees caused great resentment among the citizens of the community. This measure, which was carried out at the beginning of 2025, surprisingly came for the municipal administration. The responsible employees had not expected such a massive construction measure.
The felling action, which took place at the instruction of the State Building Office Freising, was the result of extensive examinations of the trees in winter 2024/25. Department head Timo Pfister explained that the vitality and traffic safety of the trees were checked. Unfortunately, the verdict did poorly: the trees suffered from extreme location loads with strong heat, an inadequate depth of root and various other stress -causing factors. A lack of thickness growth and abnormal symptoms such as strong gemoing and detached bark were further indication of their poor condition. Against this background, the trees were finally exported as prematurely and no longer classified.
surprise and displeasure
City hall spokesman Simon Hötzl emphasized that the felling took place on January 1, 2025 before the road construction load was handed over to the road construction load. "It is a decision that had to be made for traffic safety reasons," says Hötzl. But the citizens are dissatisfied and demand clarification. Who will take responsibility for planting new trees, and who bears the costs incurred?
With regard to the current situation, it is advisable that the property owner previously inquire about possible tree protection regulations at the municipality before falling trees. These regulations can be issued in accordance with the Federal Nature Conservation Act and the Bavarian Nature Conservation Act. They serve to promote protected trees and shrubs in built -up districts and thus protect the greening of the townscape. These protective measures are of essential importance for the improvement of the urban climate and the air and noise reduction.
tree protection as an important topic
The country has already taken various options to protect trees in municipalities. As a rule, tree protection regulations refer to leaf and conifers from a certain scope of the trunk, while fruit trees are excluded. A violation of these protection regulations can result in sensitive fines. Municipalities that choose such a regulation are often in the Zwickmühle - the fear of encountering resistance from property owners should not be underestimated.
Another aspect that the Unterhachinger should keep in mind is the ban on falling trees between March 1 and September 30th outside the forest, unless they are species or care cuts. Of course, measures to ensure traffic safety may also be taken if they are in the public interest. Nevertheless, the question remains open how the green stock will continue in the community and what steps are taken next.
It remains exciting how the municipality of Unterhaching focuses on the topic of tree protection and the reforestation of its street areas. Sustainable handling of natural green could not only upgrade the townscape, but also ensure a better climate and quality of life in the long term. The next citizens' meeting could possibly provide an interesting exchange on these important topics.
