Fire department access blocked in Wolfersdorf: Residents' dispute escalates!

In Wolfersdorf, a newly erected metal fence is causing a huge uproar and putting the fire department in a precarious position. This fence, erected by Matthias Denk, the new owner of the adjacent Raiffeisen warehouse, blocks access to the local fire station and puts the emergency services in a difficult situation. According to the Merkur report, the current solution, in which the fire brigade has to drive around the fence, is classified as “unreasonable” and “highly dangerous”.

The mayor Anita Wölfle and Lukas Schütt, the head of the administrative community, have already tried to reach an agreement, but these negotiations have failed. An important fact is that the ownership structure was not clearly regulated when the fire station was built in the 1970s. This led to the fact that during the negotiations for the sale of the warehouse in 2024 it came to light that not all parts of the driveway were owned by the municipality.

Dispute over lease and purchase offer

The municipality had rejected a lease payment of 7,200 euros that Denk had demanded. Despite Denk lowering the lease offer to under 4,000 euros, the community remained firm and instead suggested purchasing just 15 square meters of land. Denk called that offer “unacceptable” and has shown no signs of being willing to budge. The situation is still being monitored by lawyers after a local meeting with the fire department and the district office took place. The district fire chief Manfred Danner is clearly calling for the fence to be removed, as this greatly increases the risk of accidents.

It is also worth mentioning that the community can rely on a letter to Denk that addresses the restrictions on the fire department and the dangerous situation. However, the other side denies the danger and argues that operations are still possible without any problems. Since the local council has decided against paying a lease and Denk's current offers have remained unanswered, it could result in the courts having to decide on this dispute and the conflict dragging on.

Legal framework and responsibility

The dispute in Wolfersdorf shows how important clear regulations are in the property situation. If responsibilities are not clearly defined, this can have fatal consequences in difficult situations like this. A good hand is required to ensure the safety of citizens while protecting the interests of everyone involved.
