Subway alarm: Construction work on the U1 Fürth-Nuremberg starts on Monday!

From Monday, October 25, 2025, there will be significant disruptions on the U1 Fürth-Nuremberg. The reason for this is extensive construction work being carried out on the route. This means that a replacement rail service will be set up, about which passengers should be informed in good time. Current information on developments in traffic to and from Nuremberg is available in the NN.de live ticker, as reported by NN.de.

In addition, existing construction work in the Muggenhof area took place between August 4th and August 22nd, 2025. During this time, the U1 runs in the direction of Hardhöhe Fürth from Muggenhof to the city limits on a different track. The basic frequency between Langwasser Süd and Fürth Hardhöhe is still every 12 minutes. There were also reinforcement trips between planned trains on certain sections of the route. These took place from Monday to Friday from the start of operations until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from around 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., while no amplifier trips are offered on Sundays. VAG informs about all changes and points out the corresponding platform and train signage.

Roadway renovations in Nuremberg

But it's not just the subway that will be affected by the construction work. Numerous roadway renovations are planned throughout Nuremberg to improve the infrastructure. In Fischbach and Altenfurt in particular, work can now continue after previously stalling due to a lack of personnel. The city wants to quickly implement several renovation measures per year. Fischbacher Hauptstrasse, Von-Soden-Strasse and Raudtener Strasse are among the first projects on the list. Nürnberg.de reports that these roadway renovations will also include improvements for bicycle traffic.

Particular attention is also paid to converting several streets into bicycle streets. In this context, the aim is to close the gap in Strauchstrasse and Harsdörfferplatz, while Sperberstrasse and Kleestrasse are also to be redesigned. One change concerns the implementation of the Nordstadt cycle route from Maxtorgraben to Nordring, which needs to be optimized due to an additional district heating pipe in Friedrichstrasse. In addition, a redesign of the Kleinreuther Weg neighborhood square is planned by the end of June 2025 in order to promote walking and cycling and to create an attractive stay.

The city's continuous efforts to improve the infrastructure and make public transport safer are a positive sign for all Nuremberg residents. It remains to be hoped that the construction work will progress quickly and without major complications. Stay informed about developments, whether in rail transport or on the roads!
