Jackson returns to Chelsea: Bayern rules out purchase!
The football world rarely stands still, and the transfer market is constantly moving. Just today it was reported that Nicolas Jackson, an up-and-coming Senegalese footballer, is expected to return to Chelsea after a season-long loan at Bayern Munich. Jackson, 24, failed to break into the first team at Chelsea and was on the verge of being left without a loan deal as the club attempted to terminate his contract due to an injury to Liam Delap. Eventually an agreement was reached to loan Jackson, while Mark Guéhi was brought back from Sunderland 112.ua reported.
Bayern Munich, the club Jackson moved to, paid €13.5 million for the loan, which equates to around £11.71 million. Uli Hoeness, the president of Bayern, made it clear that they have no plans to sign Jackson permanently. In order to stay with the German record champions, Jackson would have to play at least 40 games this season - a hurdle that Hoeness considers unlikely. The club has already played two games in the Bundesliga, with 32 league games remaining and participation in the Champions League and DFB Cup, which could give the player some opportunities.
Challenges in big football
As all the fuss surrounding Jackson shows, young players today face enormous challenges if they want to gain a foothold in professional football. Coach Vincent Kompany traditionally relies on a single striker - a position occupied by the sensational Harry Kane, who has scored an impressive 91 goals in 100 games since moving to Germany. It is therefore unclear what playing time Jackson can expect if he cannot assert himself at Bayern.
Hoeness has also expressed his dissatisfaction with football's exorbitant transfer prices and has shown a keen eye for his squad after the club's main target, Nick Woltemade, moved to Newcastle instead. “We are satisfied with the current situation of my squad,” said Hoeness. Meanwhile, it remains to be seen how Jackson will develop during his time in Munich.
Will Jackson find his old strength or turn out to be a flop at Bayern? The coming months will decide and show whether the loan will be a good deal for everyone involved. For more information on Jackson's situation, take a look at the details at Yahoo Sports.
