Airbus and Unibw Munich: New dimensions in defense research!
München, Deutschland - On April 22, 2025, an important cooperation agreement between Airbus Defense and Space and the University of the Bundeswehr Munich (Unibw M) was signed. The aim of this agreement is the constantation and expansion of previous cooperation in critical areas of security and defense research. Both partners see a necessity in the closer cooperation to meet the current security policy challenges, such as Unibw reports .
The contract was signed by Dr. Michael Schöllhorn, the CEO of Airbus Defense and Space, and Prof. Eva-Maria Kern, the President of the University of the Bundeswehr Munich. The planned joint research projects extend over various areas, including security and defense, aviation technology and cyber security. Furthermore, education initiatives, technology transfer activities, talent promotion and young talent are also part of this cooperation.

The current cooperation already includes national research studies of the Bundeswehr and international projects at EU and NATO level. The specific research areas include avoiding kinetosis in pilots, the use of artificial intelligence in complex combat situations as well as the development of innovative solutions for earth observation, satellite navigation and communication.
