The last wishes come true: Marion enjoys excursion to the Wilhelma zoo
Zoologischer Garten Wilhelma, Stuttgart, Deutschland - The Workers' Samaritan Association (ASB) wish car team has been fulfilling the heart's desires from people with dying people for years. This special initiative enables those affected to make their last wishes come true. So also in the case of Marion, who wanted to spend her last hours in the Wilhelma Zoological Garden in Stuttgart. The excursion took place in mid -January and was accompanied by her family, including her husband, son and her best friend.
Marion, which was transported on a stretcher and later transported in a wheelchair, experienced an unforgettable day despite the cold and physical exhaustion. The group visited the aquarium and the Amazon house, followed by a well-deserved break. A highlight of the excursion was the planned visit to the penguins, but Marion asked for the return trip because of her exhaustion. Nevertheless, the mood during the return trip was very good, and her son expressed gratefully on the support of the desired car team. Marion himself described the day as exhausting, but beautiful and as a symbol of fulfilling her dreams in the last chapters.
The concept of the wish car
The desiration is a project of the ASB Munich that has been operated since 2016. The aim is to fulfill a special wish in their last phase of life. The initiators bring passengers from hospices, palliative care stations or their own four walls to places that they want to visit one last time. Frequent wishes are, for example, the view of a mountain summit, the sunset at the lake, visiting a football game or returning to the family.
It is particularly noteworthy that the desired trip for the passengers and whose accompaniment is free of charge. The wish car is financed exclusively by donations, sponsorship funds and membership fees of the ASB Munich. The support of the project is also reinforced by prominent faces such as actress Janina Hartwig, who has accompanied the wish car since the beginning and took part in both the first and the hundredth trip.
donations and support
In order to continue to maintain the valuable work of the wish car, donations are essential. The ASB has simplified the regulation for sending donation receipts: For amounts of up to 300 euros, it is no longer necessary to send a separate receipt. Instead, it is sufficient to use booking confirmations of the bank details for the tax office. This simplified regulation makes it easier to make a contribution and support the valuable work of the ASB so that many last wishes can continue to be fulfilled.
The ASB and its supporters work tirelessly to return seriously ill people a piece of joie de vivre. In a moving context like that of Marion, it becomes clear how important such offers are for those affected and their relatives.
