Young citizens discover politics: Free trip to Berlin!

On July 20, 2025, Bundestag member Leon Eckert from the Greens organized an exciting political education trip to Berlin. This initiative was aimed at members of youth parliaments and interested citizens and was free for all participants. Who would have thought that such an excursion could be an introduction to the world of politics?

The trip included visits to renowned institutions such as the Bundestag, the Federal Chancellery and the Federal Intelligence Service. A special highlight was taking part in a plenary debate in the Bundestag, where participants were able to experience first-hand how politics works. In this context, Eckert emphasizes the importance of direct contact with political institutions. “There’s nothing better than understanding what’s happening on the ground,” he said.

City tour and more

An informative city tour through the political center of Berlin rounded off the program. It was not only a trip to the capital, but also a valuable learning opportunity. So there's a lot in the MP's action.

Just in time for this educational offensive, the Pfaffenhofen district council will meet on July 21st. The public part of the meeting begins at 3 p.m. and is accessible to anyone interested via a live stream. The agenda includes, among other things, important topics such as the situation report for Ilmtalklinik-GmbH and new building plans for schools.

Educational offerings and obituaries

The educational landscape remains active: a free first aid course on dementia-specific topics will take place in Reichertshausen on July 26th - a great opportunity for anyone who would like to get involved. A lecture on behavioral therapy on July 24th at the Ingolstadt Clinic is also on the program, for which online registration is required.

Of course, there is also sad news from the region: The obituary for August Gahbauer, the longest-serving member and longest-serving referee instructor in Bavaria, remembers a special person. Gahbauer was a respected honorary member of the Pfaffenhofen football referee group.

And while a lot is happening in politics, current economic figures are also casting their shadows. In the Bavarian hospitality industry, sales increased nominally by 3.2 percent in May 2023 compared to the previous year, but in real terms there was a decline of 1.8 percent. The catering industry recorded a nominal increase in sales of 1.9 percent, but a real decline of 2.2 percent. These numbers show that the hospitality industry is still struggling and it is high time to turn things around.

Things remain exciting in the region and politics. Whether educational trips, important meetings or even sad farewells – there is always something going on in Pfaffenhofen. You just have to look closely to discover the small and big stories!
