What an exciting picture there was at this year's Wiesbaden elementary school soccer tournament! Around460 childrenout of40 primary schoolswere at the start on September 9th, 2025 in the Rheinhöhe sports park, and the fun and enthusiasm were literally palpable. Organized by SV Wehen Wiesbaden and presented by Backhaus Schröer, the tournament was held on four artificial turf pitches with two playing fields each. The children played ineight groupswith eachfive teams.

Tension was in the air as the...Diesterweg Schooland theBierstadt elementary schoolqualified for the grand final. This takes place onSeptember 16thtakes place in the BRITA Arena, which is a special honor for the participants, as the SVWW's home game against SSV Jahn Regensburg kicks off beforehand. The third and fourth placed teams, theBertha von Suttner Schooland theFriedrich von Schiller School, are also allowed to run onto the pitch with the professionals, which feels like a fairy tale for the young kickers.

Winners of the tournament and special experiences

The absolute winner of the tournament was theNordenstadt primary school, which took place in an exciting penalty shootout against theSibling Scholl Schooltriumphed. The award ceremony was by the SVWW legendAlf Mintzelmoderated, while the cup bySVWW Vice President Jürgen FladeandKai Schröerwas presented by Backhaus Schröer. The children experienced this moment in a full stadium, an experience they will not soon forget.

Matthias Henn, head of the youth training center, expressed his gratitude to Backhaus Schröer for the resources provided480 breakfast bagsand praised the organizers for the smooth running of the tournament. In addition, two stadium tours and vouchers for a school visit by an SVWW professional were raffled off, which added to the excitement and joy.

The activities surrounding school sports are intended to arouse enthusiasm and support lifelong participation in sports.
