80 years of educational work in Rosenheim: Big Advent service beckons!

A very special event will be celebrated in the heart of Rosenheim on November 30, 2025: The Rosenheim educational organization will celebrate its 80-year success story with a festive Advent service in the Church of St. Nicholas. This important milestone is used not only to honor the past, but also to celebrate the anticipation of the Advent season. The celebration begins at 4 p.m. and will be led by Monsignor Schlichting.

The women's group “Die Spontanettes” will provide musical accents and will immerse the church in festive sounds with a variety of instruments such as harp, dulcimer, accordion, guitar, flute and double bass. Singing along is expressly encouraged, so everyone present is invited to an hour full of music, reflection and community.

The roots of the educational work

The Rosenheim educational center looks back on a green past. It was founded in the fall of 1945 by committed citizens who wanted to create a place for education and open encounters in order to overcome the trauma of the Nazi era. The initiative stands for openness, responsibility and the joy of learning together.

Over the years, the educational program has developed further, always in line with social changes. It currently combines four central pillars: faith and religion, family and pedagogy, society, politics and culture, and health and exercise. Education here is not only understood as the imparting of knowledge, but also as an invitation to engage with different ways of life and beliefs.

A varied event program

Several events are planned as part of the celebrations, including a star singer workshop on November 14th, a nativity scene felting on November 20th and a picture book cinema with the story “The Thieving Advent Fairy” on November 29th. To make the pre-Christmas season even more creative, there will also be online craft ideas on December 9th as well as a cooking class on the topic of “Christmas gifts to eat” and a workshop on smoking incense on a contemplative Advent day.

Registration for the events can be done via the educational organization’s website or by telephone. “We would like to thank our member institutions and parishes for their continued support,” emphasizes the educational organization team. Adaptation to modern needs, such as affiliation with the brand strategy of Catholic Adult Education Germany and the technical modernization of the homepage, is only part of what the organization is planning for the future.

Advent – a time of reflection

The 1st Advent, which falls on November 30th this year, is traditionally celebrated as a time of preparation for Christmas. During this special time, which represents customs and traditions, people have the opportunity to pause, experience contemplative moments and prepare for the upcoming birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. The name “Advent” comes from the Latin “adventus”, which means “arrival” and symbolizes the waiting for the Savior and the hope for eternal life with God.

In this festive setting, the Rosenheim educational organization will properly celebrate its 80th birthday and at the same time awaken shared anticipation of the contemplative Advent season. The invitations have been extended and the entire region is cordially invited to celebrate this special occasion.
