Shock accident on B388: Eight injured in crash near Bayerbach!

On Saturday morning, August 30, 2025, there was a serious traffic accident on the B388 near Bayerbach in the Rottal-Inn district, involving several vehicles. The collision occurred around 9 a.m. when a driver who wanted to enter the federal highway from the direction of Holzham overlooked the right of way of a vehicle that was already driving. This not only led to a direct collision, but also to two further rear-end collisions on both lanes.

A total of eleven people were involved in the accident. The result was eight injured, including children. While six adults and two children suffered minor to moderate injuries, the remaining people fortunately remained uninjured. PNP reported that a helicopter was used to support the rescue efforts.

Traffic chaos and rescue operations

Because of the accident, the B388 had to be completely closed, which led to a significant backlog. This was particularly unfortunate as the Karpfham Festival also took place that weekend. The road was finally reopened around 11:30 a.m. Unfortunately, such traffic accidents are not uncommon, as current statistics show. Destatis states that road traffic accident statistics provide an essential basis for road safety measures.

On the same day, but in the afternoon, there was another serious accident on the B388 in the Erding district when a 39-year-old was driving his Skoda towards Erding. For unknown reasons, the driver crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a Seat that was being driven by a 36-year-old. This accident also resulted in several injuries, including two children. Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and had to be freed by the fire department. The Skoda driver was flown to hospital with serious injuries, while the Seat driver also received medical treatment with moderate injuries. Fortunately, the children, a ten-year-old boy and an infant, only suffered minor injuries and were taken to a children's hospital.

Rescue workers in constant use

A total of around 70 fire departments from various communities worked at the scene of the accident in the Erding district. Several ambulances from BRK and Malteser Hilfe as well as the rescue helicopter Christoph 1 were also in action. The Landshut public prosecutor's office has commissioned an accident analysis report to clarify the exact circumstances of this accident. Such devastating incidents once again highlight the importance of road safety measures to reduce accidents.

The information about the accidents on the B388 sheds light on the dangers of road traffic, which can affect many people every day. It is therefore important that both drivers and road users remain vigilant at all times.
