Series of burglaries in Bad Kissingen: Police are urgently looking for witnesses!
There hasn't been much to laugh about in the Main-Rhön region in the last few days - three break-ins in residential buildings are causing worried faces. The police have already started an investigation and are looking for witnesses who may have observed the crimes.
The first incident occurred in Hammelburg, where the perpetrators cleverly took advantage of the residents' absence. Between Tuesday, 6 p.m. and Sunday, 10:20 p.m., the burglars forcibly gained access to a property on “Zur Kanzel” street. They caused several hundred euros in property damage and stole a low four-digit amount of cash. The police are asking for information on 09721/202 17 31.
Burglaries in Euerbach and Windshausen
Another break-in was also carried out in Euerbach, in the Schweinfurt district. The perpetrators entered the house through a patio door between Wednesday, 12 p.m. and Saturday, 8:30 a.m. and took away loot worth over 10,000 euros - although the exact amount has not yet been determined. In addition, a break-in in Windshausen, a part of Hohenroth, is linked to the other cases. On Friday night, the perpetrators forced their way in and stole power tools worth around 300 euros, while the door caused material damage worth around 1,000 euros.
The crimes are in the context of a general increase in residential burglaries in Germany, which have increased again after the corona pandemic. In 2023, around 119,000 thefts in and out of apartments were recorded, of which around 77,800 were classified as residential burglaries. The clearance rate of 14.9% is far below that of other crimes, which only increases citizens' concerns. In Bavaria, where many of the crimes took place, the highest clearance rate is 25.8%.
