Mainz, Deutschland - Samuel Fitwi, the fastest German marathon runner, has surprisingly announced not to take part in the upcoming World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. He announced this on May 6, 2025 after qualifying for the World Cup in December 2024 with a new German record of 2:04:56 in Valencia. The record was two seconds below the old record of Amanal Petros. The World Championships will take place from September 13th to 21st, 2025, and the Berlin Marathon will be held on the last day of the World Cup.
