New lifeboat Michi” ceremoniously christened on Lake Brombachsee!

The Weissenburg water rescue service recently put its new lifeboat into service on Lake Brombach on a celebratory occasion. The ceremonial christening of the boat, which was named “Michi”, took place at the Seespitz guard station in Absberg. The naming ceremony is a warm tribute to a recently deceased comrade, and the event was a popular meeting place for club members as well as guests of honor from the district water rescue service and the Bavarian Red Cross (BRK). reported.

The importance of volunteer work was clearly emphasized at the ceremony. Peter Gallenmüller, chairman of the BRK Südfranken, emphasized the important role of water rescuers in his speech. In his prayer, Pastor Hans Rohmer also emphasized the camaraderie among the water rescuers and blessed the new boat. The godparents, the parents of the deceased comrade, symbolized the close ties within the community.

A multifunctional tool

The new boat “Michi” is characterized by a flat design and a bow flap that opens to the front, which makes rescuing patients much easier. This represents progress in water rescue, as quick and reliable help can now be provided even more effectively. Jonas Endres, chairman of the Weißenburg water rescue service, explained that this boat is an important addition to the operations at Brombachsee, where the water rescue service supports the security team explained.

In addition to the water rescue service, the German Life Saving Society (DLRG) also has a high priority in ensuring safety at Lake Brombachsee. From May to September, volunteer lifeguards ensure the safety of bathers and water sports enthusiasts on weekends and public holidays leads that the DLRG is active at two water rescue stations. These are available at both the large and small Brombachsee.

Dedicated helpers for safety

The DLRG security team consists of a security guard and experienced security guards who have various qualifications, for example as a boat captain or paramedic. Prospective security guards from the youth operations team support the team during their training period. This professional structure helps ensure that the DLRG's main task of ensuring safety in and around the water can be fulfilled at all times.

In emergencies, the DLRG has the opportunity to intervene immediately, be it through a lifeguard or with a motor rescue boat. In addition, a paramedic is available to care for injured people until the emergency services arrive. Thanks to the commitment of the volunteers, the DLRG can also act as a “first responder” and provide first aid until the emergency services arrive.

The introduction of the new lifeboat “Michi” is a further step towards greater safety on the water. Thanks to the new boat, operations on and around Lake Brombachsee are already being made more effective, which not only benefits the helpers, but above all the people who find themselves in emergency situations.
