During the night on today, a devastating brand shaked Marzahn! Shortly after half past one, building cranes and signal cables from Deutsche Bahn Fire on a construction site area near the Marzahner Bridge. The flames required a massive use of the fire brigade, which led to serious traffic disruptions on Landsberger Allee. Tram and vehicle traffic was paralyzed for around an hour, and remote and freight transport towards Ahrensfelde was also severely affected.

The investigators have so far assumed arson and even check a political motivation behind the crime. The police protection of the State Criminal Police Office has taken over the investigation on site. The situation remains tense, while the authorities take a close look at the incident.
