Berlin chooses: These candidates are fighting for the Bundestag votes!

Berlin, Deutschland - On February 23, 2025, the Bundestag election in Berlin is imminent. Around 2.4 million people are entitled to vote and preparations are in full swing. The postal voting points are open and the election certificates are already being distributed. This year, numerous parties will compete with their top candidates to win over voters.

The T-Online reports on the main players who start in the capital. The CDU is led by Jan-Marco Luczak, a 49-year-old lawyer who has been in the Bundestag since 2009. He runs in the Tempelhof-Schöneberg constituency and received 94% of the delegate votes. Luczak is particularly committed to affordable living space and the rights of the LGBTIQ community.

Lisa Paus runs for the Greens. The 56-year-old Federal Minister of Family, Seniors, Women and Youth has a major experience of experience: she has been in the Bundestag since 2009 and was chosen with 76% of the votes. Her topics include educational justice, living and rents, whereby it will compete in the constituency of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf.

The SPD nominated Ruppert Stüwe as its top candidate. Stüwe, 46 years old, was elected with 50.3% of the votes in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district and represents topics such as education and research policy and the expansion of local transport. He has been active in the Bundestag since 2021.

from the AfD is Beatrix von Storch, the 53-year-old lawyer has been in the Bundestag since 2017 and is running in the Berlin-Mitte constituency. It was nominated with 87% of the votes and, among other things, calls for an increase in capacities of deportation institutions.

A total of 18 parties in Berlin are approved for the upcoming election, with a total of 170 candidates on the state lists. The rbb describes that the SPD, Greens and Mera25 each set up 14 candidates (SGP) with two applicants.
