Saarland chooses new BSW top: Schramm and Flackus in the lead!
The Alliance Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) in Saarland chose a new double top at its first state party conference. Astrid Schramm remains in office as the state chair, while Jochen Flackus was appointed co-chair. Flackus served as a member of the Left Party in the Saarland state parliament from 2017 to 2022 and has been a member of the BSW since the beginning of 2024. Schramm had already been elected state chairman at the BSW founding meeting in March 2024.
After the resignation of the previously elected co-chair Randolf Jobst in June 2024, the post was long vacant. Schramm, who was also sitting in the Saar Landtag from 2009 to 2022, pursues the strengthening of the party in Saarland in its re-elected Position. The BSW Saarland currently has 44 members, with more than 600 supporters present, of whom over 300 have applied for membership. The party spokesman made it clear that the admission of new members should take place more quickly to promote further growth.
member development of the parties
The BSW with its 44 members still seems to be at the beginning of a development that is also characterized by the need to integrate new members quickly and effectively. In view of the general trend of a loss of members in established parties, the BSW could receive new impulses by a rapid member recording and establish itself as a serious political force in Saarland.
The various developments in the number of members illustrate the challenges with which many political organizations are confronted with today. While parties such as the AfD and the party are gaining popularity, the BSW shows that new political approaches and structures continue to have the opportunity to gain influence and to change the political landscape.
Overall, the new double leadership of the BSW represents a fresh attempt to intensify the political work in Saarland and to set a sign of further membership growth. The alliance will continue to pursue its strategy in order to consolidate and expand support in both membership and in the broader public.
