Bremerhaven in a state of emergency: Sail 2025 expects 1.2 million visitors!
It will soon be maritime again in the heart of Bremerhaven - Sail 2025 is just around the corner. From August 13th to 17th, the port city will be the scene of a very special spectacle that will captivate not only ship enthusiasts, but all visitors., as reported on butenunbinnen.de.
Around 1.2 million people are expected to attend when more than 250 ships enter the port. The event begins on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with a large-scale entry parade, which will even be opened by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. In addition to the impressive ship parade, guests can look forward to a varied program, which will culminate in the Philharmonic Orchestra's crossover concert on Sunday at 7 p.m.
An extensive program for everyone
Sail 2025 has something to offer for every taste. Visitors can view many ships free of charge as part of the open ship offer every day from 12 p.m. There will also be a musical highlight on Willy-Brandt-Platz with performances by international artists such as Ronan Keating and No Angels. For those who want to experience the maritime flair intensively, there are around 750 market stalls - 250 of which sell maritime souvenirs and culinary specialties.
For younger visitors, the “buccaneer village” opens its doors with medieval stalls and fun games. The Naval Operations School is also hosting an open day on Saturday, and water sports such as wakeboarding and stand-up paddling in the Old Harbor round off the offerings.
But that's not all. A large fireworks display and a drone show on Saturday evening crowned the event and invites you to marvel. Onlookers can also expect an electroficated musical experience at the “Neus” Festival at the bascule bridge, where the beats really get you shaking.
Arrival and security
For a smooth journey, we recommend using the Park & Ride in the fishing port or taking the train via Bremerhaven main station, where special trains are even available. Due to the high number of visitors, it is advisable to find accommodation early - these are quickly booked up and prices start at around 1,500 euros for four nights.According to butenunbinnen.de, there is also a comprehensive security concept that is well positioned with the police, technical relief organization and fire department.
The event areas are under video surveillance and there are special security measures for children, where they receive a wristband. Barrier-free access to the main areas and on sailing trips is also guaranteed, although the popular e-wheelchairs are unfortunately not permitted.
Overall, Sail 2025 is more than just a celebration of ships – it is a real experience for the whole family. Of course, there is also a selection of inexpensive offers for trips on the ships, which can be booked from around 60 euros. A visit to Bremerhaven will definitely be worth it.
